Koi Fish
Koi Fish
This is Koi Fish and I have to say, my heart's very much in this one.
I don't say that to ask anyone to be gentle in their commentary, only that this is an instance where a vision came to life because I was ready. I had formed a process and built a collection to the point I could execute on what I felt was an exciting idea to bring to life in wood.
The spark for this was a piece of Magnolia I received from a friend. The cream-colored wood on the left is not typically that dark. Looking closely you can see streaks of silver which provide some great contrast for the bright and soft Maple on the right. That contrast, provided by circumstance, made me want to play with the idea of creating a dark side and a light side of the same object. My heirloom scale pattern was the perfect canvas for it, too.
On the left side, the colorful woods (top to bottom) are Black Walnut and Padauk. On the right side, the "brighter" versions of those two woods are Chechen and Bubinga.
Materials
Materials
The bodies of all my boards are solid wood.
The bottom half is a laminated hardwood meant to help stand up to wear and tear.
Each board has a food-safe, cured-lacquer finish. This helps protect against liquids and brings out the luster in the wood.

Shipping & Returns
I'M CURRENTLY TAKING PRE-ORDERS TO SHIP OUT IN THE THIRD WEEK OF MAY.
This is a handmade art product made from organic material. It will have blemishes and unique qualities.
I do not provide refunds or returns unless a board was damaged during shipping or warps badly within the first 6 months. If that happens contact me with your information through the inquiries form and we'll work to resolve the situation.
